Food Delivery App – Faisal Shahzad

Driving 121,000+ Installs and 2.9X Repeat Orders for a Food Delivery App

The Client

A food delivery mobile application connecting users with local restaurants for on-demand delivery and pickup orders. The platform operated in highly competitive urban food-delivery markets and wanted to increase app installs, first-time orders, and repeat purchase rates while maintaining cost efficiency.

The Goal

Scale user acquisition, increase first-order conversions, boost app downloads, and create a predictable marketing system that consistently generated high-intent food orders.

What Stood in the Way

● High competition from major food delivery platforms

● Rising cost per order across paid advertising channels

● Low conversion rates from generic, low-intent traffic

● Difficulty attracting users likely to become repeat orderers rather than one-time promo hunters

The Execution Plan

● Strategic Campaign Planning: audience research to identify frequent takeout orderers, busy professionals, students, and neighborhood residents near partner restaurants

● Channel Optimization: built and managed Meta Ads, Google Ads, and App Campaigns targeting users at different stages of the ordering journey

● Order Quality Focus: optimized campaigns around completed first orders and repeat-order rate rather than vanity metrics such as clicks and impressions

● Performance Tracking: implemented advanced tracking and attribution systems to monitor app installs, menu views, cart additions, and completed orders

Customer Journey Blueprint

Stage 1 — First Impression: Engaging video and image creatives showcasing popular local restaurants, limited-time offers, and app convenience reached broad, lookalike, and food-interest audiences to drive awareness, app installs, and qualified traffic.

Stage 2 — Building Belief: Users who browsed restaurants, engaged with ads, or installed the app were retargeted with restaurant recommendations, delivery-speed benefits, and trust-building reviews.

Stage 3 — Closing the Sale: Users who viewed menus, added items to cart, or started checkout received conversion-focused campaigns with first-order discounts, optimized specifically for completed orders.

Stage 4 — Keeping Them Coming Back: Remarketing campaigns targeted inactive users and past customers with new restaurant partners and personalized meal recommendations, increasing retention and repeat orders.

Testing & Iteration

Restaurant-focused versus offer-focused creatives, audience segments (students, professionals, families), promo codes and discount structures, and geographic targeting and dayparting strategies were continuously tested.

Scaling Decision

Using campaign data and user behavior insights, the highest-performing campaigns were scaled while maintaining order quality, with budgets strategically allocated toward the audiences and creatives delivering the lowest cost per first order.
